I'm Damien. For now, this is mainly a portfolio site that will hopefully evolve into regular writing on subjects ranging from technology, energy, US-China, and other interests—perhaps even food. 

For about a decade, my own writing and projects took a back seat as I focused intensely on building the Macro Polo think tank. Much of the work you see on this site was produced under the think tank.

Now that the Macro Polo venture is behind me, I can dust off a number of back-pocket ideas or projects in various stages of gestation that never saw the light of day. Over time, I may breathe life into them here in the form of writing, multimedia, data visualization, etc.

You’ll get a good sense of my 20-year career by looking at the range of work I’ve done (or just go to LinkedIn). I’ve written and edited books (currently working on a stealth project), published widely in global media, advised private and public sector clients, keynoted conferences, taught at a top US business school, and had lunches with China’s central banker.

I’ve been fortunate to have had rich and diverse experiences—and to have developed specialization in significant aspects of the global economy in the process. But above all, building an organization and team from scratch has been the most edifying project to date. Challenging as it may be, I think I caught the building bug and can’t seem to shake it.

So whatever may come next, I’m sure it will involve building something original and different from what prevails. Stay tuned…
